Scott Pennington
Elder
Scott was born in Norman, Oklahoma and raised in Lawton where he attended Central Baptist Church and first came to faith and was subsequently baptized at the age of 7. After a short stent in Colorado Springs, CO he returned to Lawton where he became very active in the youth ministry and music at Central, and rededicated his life to Christ at 12 years old.
After graduating from Eisenhower High School, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned his BS in Microbiology. In 1990, during his sophomore year at OU, he met his future soulmate, Patty. Both were members of the marching band and had a passion for Sooner football. Scott and Patty were married in 1993 and set up camp in the Oklahoma City area immediately after graduation. In 2005, Scott completed a second course of study to complete his MBA, also at OU. While in OKC, they were active members of Southgate Baptist Church where Scott served in music ministry, family shepherd ministry, and the personnel committee. Together, Patty and Scott started a ministry for young married couples. They have 3 children, Ryan (25), Taylor (23), and Evan (19) – all of whom have given their lives to Christ and continue to grow daily in their faith.
In 2006, the Lord brought the Pennington clan to the Fort Worth area where Scott continued his work in pharmaceutical and medical device development at Alcon Laboratories. In their first 9 years as OK transplants, they worshipped at Birchman Baptist Church and Willow Park Baptist Church. They found their church home here at Church at the Crossing in October 2016. Scott is currently serving at CATC both as a guitarist in the worship team and a leader of the Breakfast Club adult Sunday school class. He also attends Pastor Lee’s Wednesday morning bible study with the Crossing Crew. Patty is actively involved in our women’s ministry and has served in children’s and welcome ministries since joining with us.
